How to connect with customers.

By 2020, it’s estimated that customer experience will surpass price and product and will become the key differentiator between products and brands.

Don’t get left behind. As a business owner to know who your customers are, is the lifeblood of your business. With no customers, you have no business. Thats why its important you engage with your customers, and not to shove the sales pitch down their throats. Successful brands engage and understand their customers, which has never been easier now with great technology.

Here are two great ways to engage with your customers.

Put a face to the name:

If a customer has a query online, do you think a logo or an image of a team member would have more impact? Include author bios on your blog and have a brand ambassador to help build a relationship. People want to buy from people they like and can relate to. When you overlook the importance of personal connection you are running the risk of losing a potential customer.

Think back to your local corner store as a kid. The business owner knew your name, perhaps even your whole family. Try and emulate this with your customers. Be a good listener, and take note of their story and remember this for future conversations. If you know they are going on holiday, next time you see them ask how it went. Everyone wants to feel they are important enough and that someone remembers the little things. Look past seeing them as a dollar sign and as an asset to your business.

Build a community:

Online forums have been around for years and don’t show any sign off disappearing. A community has the advantage of allowing you to directly answer questions about your industry. Engaging with others and having discussions is what online communities are all about. Everyone likes to also feel part of a team or group, so why not start your own social media groups for your VIP customers. Use that forum to thank your loyal customers with discounts or giveaways.

In summary, by maximising satisfaction with your customers, you have the potential all to increase by around 20% their satisfaction rate and lift revenue by up to 15%.
