Here is my formula. You can thank me later 😉

Know your audience:

Understand what your audience wants. Make sure it is something they want to learn about. Read more about researching your target market.

Brainstorm a list of topics:

This list can simply be a brain-dump of ideas or subjects and usually this helps you write your blog’s title as it evolves. These topics are essential in the success of your blog’s performance.

Start writing an introduction:

No pressure but this is where you need to grab your reader’s attention. If not, they will leave your website quicker than the blink of an eye. One idea I try is usually open with an interesting statistic or something funny they can relate to and how it can help them.

The main bit:

Organise all the information you want to share. Make sure it’s not too intimidating and easy to follow. Break it into sections or lists, or a step by step. Then break these down and go into detail.

Pen to paper time:

No excuses, once you have all your ducks in a line, it’s time to string it all together and write your article.

Save as a draft:

File it away for a few days and go back for some proof reading and any new ideas you may have thought of.

Optimise for SEO:

Go over the article and add any of your keywords. Don’t dump them in there silly hilly – Google will know. Make things genuine.

Finally choose an image:

When it comes to getting the love from social media, Content with images will be featured more prominently.

Make it pretty:

A little touch of formatting never goes astray. format with subheadings, a few line breaks and keep it consistent with the rest of your website.

Final touches:

What do you want your reader to do next? put a call to action at the end, get them to Download something, read more articles or register for something. If you do it right, you can turn them into a lead.

Start Monitoring:

Now you have a few blogs on your website, use your google analytics to monitor and track the success (or failure) or your blogs. If you don’t have a website already, read my article about what a website costs.

blogging is a great way to differentiate yourself from the crowds. Blogs are your opportunity to share your unique thoughts and attract traffic – a win win situation.

We hope these steps to starting a blog helps. Remember to blog regularly and share, share, share your blogs on all your social media channels.
